Masculine Energy at Work? I Thought I Was Just Tired

This stupid picture?
Yeah. This one. And hundreds like it.
Was work.
18 years of juggling through emails, 50 tabs (and clients) open at all times, deliverables, escalations, time zones, budgets, rinse, repeat.
Every. Single. Day.
Since 2005-ish.
A lifetime of being “on.”

And then today, I watched a woman in a metaphorical power suit talk about being strong, independent, and—wait for it—masculine at work.
Because that’s apparently a thing now.
Masculine energy = structure, decisions, goals.
Which makes me wonder…
Was I unknowingly identifying as drywall?

She even said women should switch into their feminine when they get home.
To let the man feel needed.
As if we’re mood rings with Wi-Fi.

Why do we even need terms like masculine energy, feminine energy, alpha, divine, string theory?
Can I just be tired and competent in peace?

No really—switch energies?
I’m barely switching socks.
Kidding. I do. I’m still civilised.

Here’s a theory:
Maybe we’re complex.
>Maybe we adapt.
>Maybe we’re not walking TED Talks.

Maybe the strongest thing we can do… is not over-label every damn thing.
Not shape-shift into gendered performances.

Because if I hear one more podcast say, “reclaim your feminine to receive,”
I will personally reclaim my remote and yeet it at the screen.

Let’s stop cementing nonsense.
Even that cracks under pressure.
